Artboar vs AppScreens for App Store screenshots

Both Artboar and AppScreens support iPhone Duo screenshots. The useful distinction is the work around those screenshots: Artboar offers local editable layouts and per-artboard image exports, while AppScreens focuses on a screenshot production and store-release workflow.

Duo support is available in both

AppScreens documents support for both iPhone Duo displays, including device overrides. Artboar’s Duo support is not exclusive.

Artboar has separate three-artboard portrait templates for the outer 1398 × 2034 and inner 2007 × 2853 displays. Official portrait frames load automatically, with Night Sky and Star White choices and a local import fallback. Landscape export-size presets are available, but the ready-made Duo layouts and frames are portrait only. The Duo template page covers that workflow.

When AppScreens may fit better

AppScreens’ plan page describes localization, direct App Store and Google Play uploads, responsive sizing, and expanded device tools across its paid offerings. Its free-use help page also identifies custom fonts, bulk uploads, landscape and advanced styling as paid features. Check the current plan details and limits for the work you need.

If you prepare many store screenshots or localized releases, evaluate how those tools fit your production process. Artboar does not provide automatic localization or direct store uploads; you edit each artboard and export the images yourself.

When Artboar may fit better

Artboar is currently free with no account required. The same browser editor works with screenshot layouts, social posts, headers, and thumbnails. Keep headlines, shapes and screenshots editable in a downloaded .design.json project, then export each active artboard as PNG or WebP.

This can suit someone who wants a small set of custom screenshot designs and is comfortable handling each layout and upload manually. It is not an automated release pipeline. Edits to one artboard do not update the others, resizing does not rearrange content, and browser recovery is not a backup or sync service.

Artwork in the browser editor stays on your device. Website analytics and the optional hosted MCP service are separate; Privacy explains the boundaries.

Check the complete handoff

For either tool, use your own screenshots and review the actual files at their intended dimensions. Confirm the current Apple screenshot specifications for your app. Tool support alone does not determine which device screenshots you must submit.

If you need release automation, start by checking AppScreens’ current plans. If you prefer to edit locally and manage your own project files, try Artboar’s outer or inner template and check the exported PNG before building a full set.
